What is the Partner Program?
The Partner Program allows writers to earn money for the stories they publish on Medium based on engagement and activity from Medium members.
I just joined the Partner Program, what should I do now?
We recommend checking out the following articles to learn more about how to write high quality stories and how stories are distributed on Medium. Medium prioritizes thoughtful, knowledgeable, and well-crafted stories, and we know our readers and members do as well. We’ve designed the Medium Partner Program and the distribution network to encourage quality over quantity. When writing your next story, please keep the following in mind.
What does it mean to make a story eligible to earn?
As a writer in the Medium Partner Program, you can determine whether to make your posts eligible to earn money (or not!) for new or already published stories. When you make a post eligible to earn money, it becomes fully accessible to members only and is placed behind the paywall. Non-members will only be able to view a portion of your story. Stories begin to accumulate earnings when members read, listen, and engage with your stories.
You can learn the step-by-step process on how to make your stories eligible to earn here.
How does Medium calculate earnings?
Partner Program writers can earn based on Medium members activity on eligible paywalled stories. Some of the factors include the length of time a member is reading or listening to your story, engagement points, Boost bonuses, and the member read ratio. Check out this article to learn more about how Medium calculates earnings, and read this article for different examples of earning scenarios.
Where do I go to see details about my Partner Program earnings?
Your Partner Program dashboard shows you your total earnings that have accrued in a certain time period. The dashboard is also where you can review your Partner Program status, payout settings and history, and resources related to the Partner Program.
