Adjust email preferences

Your Settings page allows you to change your email address, as well as change your email notifications.

Change email address


  1. Click on your avatar in the top-right corner of the page and click Settings.
  2. Under Your email, click Edit email and enter a new email address.
  3. Click Save.

Change email notifications


  1. Click on your avatar in the top-right corner of the page and click Settings.
  2. Under Email settings, adjust your email preferences by clicking On or Off.

Types of email notifications


  • Daily or Weekly Digest: The best stories on Medium personalized based on your interests, as well as outstanding stories selected by our editors
  • Newsletters: Weekly newsletters developed by our editorial team on select topics, including Health and Technology, as well as The Edition, a special weekly newsletter for members
  • Recommended stories: Featured stories, columns, and collections that we think you’ll enjoy based on your reading history
  • Updates from publications: Letters from publications you follow
  • Social notifications: Notifications when someone follows you or highlights the same passage in a story
  • Mention notifications: Notifications when people mention you in their stories on Medium
  • Notifications on your stories: Notifications when people react, leave notes, or respond to your stories; emails from Medium’s curators and editors, and publication editors; and stats on your stories
  • Writing updates and announcements: updates on any new features or changes to writing on Medium, including regular updates from the Partner Program
  • New product features on Medium: updates on any product changes on Medium, tips to make the most of Medium, and invitations to participate in user research
  • Information about Medium membership: stories for members we think you’ll like, and other information to help you make the most of Medium
  • All email: Control whether to receive email from Medium. You'll still receive administrative emails even if this setting is off.
