Stories
In Monthly, you can view an aggregate of the different stats for a specific month, along with a graph displaying the number of views and reads per day.
Monthly
- Presentations: How many times Medium has suggested your stories to readers on the website or app. This includes all feeds, search results, profiles, publications, lists, as well as email and push notifications. The Digest is excluded. Presentations are not only available for stories published before 2025.
- Views: How many times readers have accessed your stories. For a view to be counted, the reader has to stay on the story for at least 5 seconds, as we account for bouncing. If your stories have significant external traffic, views may be higher than presentations.
- Reads: How many times readers have read your story for at least 30 seconds.
- Followers: How many readers have followed your account.
- Subscribers: How many readers have opted in to receive email notifications about your stories.
All metrics are unique, meaning they are deduplicated. Presentations are deduplicated per user, surface, and day, while views and reads are deduplicated per user and day.
Monthly stats are updated hourly. To review previous months, click the pill-shaped select at the top right corner of this section and select the month you want to review.
Lifetime
The Lifetime section lists all your published stories along with some metrics: presentations (not available for stories published before 2025), views, reads, and earnings (only available for paywalled stories, marked with the star icon).
These are lifetime metrics, meaning they show the total number of presentations, views, and reads the story has received since it was published, and the total earnings accrued since and/or while it was paywalled.
The Lifetime section is updated hourly for stories during the first month after publishing. For stories published more than a month ago, this section is updated daily. The list of stories is sortable by views, reads, and lifetime earnings by clicking on the pill-shaped select on the top right corner of the section and selecting the preferred order option.
By clicking on the story, you can access the story's detailed stats page to find additional details.
Audience
The Audience tab offers insights into your Medium community, showing who follows and engages with your content, including followers and email subscribers. It helps track audience growth and understanding over time.
