The Medium Partner Program lets you earn money from your stories based on engagement from Medium members. Enrollment takes effect as soon as you meet all eligibility requirements. After enrolling, set up payouts to receive your earnings.
Before you enroll, make sure you meet all the requirements in Medium Partner Program eligibility, including an active Medium membership.
Enroll in the Partner Program
- Go to medium.com/partner-program and click Apply now.
- Review the list of requirements. If any requirement is not met, the page shows which one and links to where you can fix it, such as becoming a member or completing your profile.
- Once all requirements are met, check the boxes to confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and that you agree to the Medium Partner Program Terms and the Content eligible for the paywall policy.
- Click Enroll now. You will be taken to your payout checklist.
There is no application review. If you meet all eligibility requirements, you are enrolled right away.
If you were previously enrolled and want to join again, go to your Partner Program dashboard, click Re-enroll, then follow steps 2 to 4 above.
Set up payouts
To receive payouts, you need a connected Stripe account and verified taxpayer information.
You can put stories behind the paywall before setting up payouts. However, if your balance reaches $10 USD and your payout settings remain incomplete for 30 consecutive days, your enrollment status becomes inactive, and your stories are removed from the paywall. Connect your Stripe account
Stripe is Medium's third-party payout processor. From your payout checklist, follow the steps to create or connect an active Stripe account. Stripe requires your legal name, even if you use a pen name on Medium.

Submit your taxpayer information
Medium uses Tipalti to collect taxpayer information. Go to the taxpayer information page and complete all required fields. You will receive an email confirmation once your information has been submitted.

Start earning
Once you are enrolled, you can put new and published stories behind the paywall. When members read, listen to, or engage with your stories, you receive a share of their membership dues. For instructions, see Make a story eligible to earn.
