How do I nominate a story for Boosting?

You need to be a current Boost nominator in order to be able to nominate a story for Boost.

Once you’re accepted into the program as a Boost nominator, you’ll see the Boost Nomination tab on your Medium Partner Program dashboard at https://medium.com/me/partner/dashboard. (If you don’t see the tab, make sure you’re logged into the Medium account associated with your Medium Partner Program account. If you still don’t see the tab, contact us.)

On the Boost Nomination tab, you can nominate a story by entering this information:

  • Story URL
This can be a link to an unpublished draft or a published post. You’ll receive an error message if the story…
    • Has already been nominated, reviewed, or Boosted
    • Is older than 6 months
    • URL is invalid (ie, there’s a typo or it’s not a Medium story URL)
    • Has been unlisted or deleted
  • Optional nominator note
This optional note is a chance to give additional context about the story that may not be immediately evident. Notes are truly optional (you only need to write one if you have additional information that a curator won’t get from reading the story) and should be short (just 1-2 sentences). At this time, this note is only seen by curation. Think of the nominator note as your chance to provide additional context to help curators read the piece and understand the value you saw in it. More information and examples of effective nominator notes can be found here.

How do Boost and Story Featuring work together?

Publication Story Featuring is a new way for publication editors to prioritize stories to their followers. IMPORTANT: if you are a Boost Nominator and also featuring stories for a publication, the order in which you do this makes a difference.

  1. In order to be eligible for compensation for story nominations, nominate the story for Boost first, as usual, through your Partner Program dashboard. This ensures you'll get paid for the nomination if the story is Boosted
  2. Then, feature the story in your publication. (If you reverse the order, you risk not getting credit for your nomination.)
