Refine recommendations

By following topics, authors, and publications that match your interests, you will receive better story recommendations on your homepage.

On your homepage, click on your profile picture.
Click Refine recommendations.

Following

On the Following page, you can:

Follow recommended topics, publications, and authors
Manage the topics, publications, and authors you already follow

Connect Twitter to follow authors you follow on Twitter

You can connect your Twitter account with Medium to be able to find people you follow on Twitter who are writing on Medium.

In the Suggestions tab, click Connect to Twitter.
Sign in to your Twitter account to authorize the connection.

Once your Twitter account is connected with Medium, you’ll find a list of your Twitter connections to follow on Medium. Learn more about connecting Twitter.

Reading history

The reading history section lets you check your reading history and remove stories from your history to adjust your recommendations. You can also mute authors, publications.

You can also clear you reading history to reset your recommendations altogether.

Muted

The mute section lets you check the authors and publications you mute and remove them. Learn more about muting.

In the app, tap your profile picture on the bottom bar.
Tap the three-dot button in the top-right corner.
Tap Settings.
Tap Customize your interests.

Following and unfollowing specific authors and publications

Medium also lets you follow specific authors and publications. Once you follow an author or a publication, stories published by them will show up on your homepage and in your email digests.

Follow or unfollow an author

To follow an author on Medium:

Go to the profile page of the user you wish to follow.
Click Follow.

To unfollow an author, click the Following button on their profile page.

Follow or unfollow a publication

To follow a publication on Medium:

Go to the publication homepage of the publication you wish to follow.
Click Follow.

To unfollow an author, click the Following button on their publication homepage, and choose Unfollow publication from the menu.
