Partner Program Enrollment

This article will help you learn more about the Partner Program and will walk you through the process of applying and getting started.

What is the Partner Program?

The Partner Program allows writers to earn money for the stories they publish on Medium based on engagement and activity from Medium members.

It is recommended that all writers interested in joining the Medium Partner Program review the following resources before applying:

Apply to the Partner Program

To join the Partner Program, you will need to meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Be a Medium member
  2. Have published a story within the last 6 months
  3. Have a bank account and file taxes in an eligible country
  4. Be at least 18 years old

Countries supported in the Program

Currently, enrollment in the Partner Program is only available for those who have a bank account and file taxes in the following countries:

Albania, Algeria, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gabon, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam

Please note: Outlying territories of supported countries are not supported at this time.

Support to new countries is rolling out and will take a couple of weeks. If you meet all eligibility requirements but do not see a newly supported country listed on the application page yet, please check again at a later date. To learn more about the country expansion, check out this blog post.

 

If you meet all of the requirements, you can apply to join the Partner Program by going to https://medium.com/partner-program and clicking Apply now.

If you don’t meet those requirements, we encourage you to continue writing and publishing your stories and building your community.

Enroll in the Partner Program

Once you’ve been notified of your Partner Program status and you've agreed to Medium's Partner Program Terms, you'll be brought over to your Partner Program enrollment checklist. To complete enrollment, you will need to set up payouts by linking your Medium account with an active Stripe account, a third-party payment service. You will also need to provide your taxpayer information to Tipalti, a third-party payment service, to receive payouts from Medium.

  1. Click on “Continue with onboarding” to proceed.
  2. Fill out all of the information required by Stripe to create or connect your Stripe account. You can learn more about the process in this article.
  3. After you’ve created or connected your Stripe account, you will be brought over to the next step: completing your taxpayer information.
  4. Fill out all of the information required by Tipalti.  If you have any questions about items on the form, please consult our Help Center articles.
  5. You will receive an email confirmation once you have submitted your taxpayer information. Tipalti can take up to 5 business days to review and verify your taxpayer forms.

Make your stories eligible to earn money

Once you've completed your enrollment, you can begin putting new stories and already published stories behind the paywall to start earning revenue from them.

When Medium members read, listen, and engage with your stories, you'll receive a portion of their membership dues. Higher-quality stories full of your expertise, personal experiences, and insights will travel further on Medium—and earn more money. You can review your story earnings in your Partner Program Dashboard.
