On some topic pages, readers see brief AI summaries meant to spark curiosity about each story. They don't always get it right, and aren't a substitute for the story itself. Story text is used only to generate these summaries, not to train AI models.
How it works
An AI model writes a short summary for each story based on the story text. These stories have already been reviewed by Medium’s human curators. Summaries are generated automatically, and we review them for quality without reviewing each summary individually.
What to keep in mind
AI can misread context, oversimplify, or get details wrong. A summary can help you decide if a story might be a good match, but it’s never a substitute for the story. The story itself is always the source of truth. If you have feedback about a summary, contact Medium Support.
About your stories
We don’t use your story text to train AI models as part of this feature. We use story text only to produce clear, accurate story summaries at the point those summaries are generated.
