The Partner Program forfeiture policy applies to all Partner Program members, including US taxpayers and non-US taxpayers (nonresident aliens).
When does forfeiture occur?
If your Partner Program enrollment status is inactive for 180 consecutive days, your entire Partner Program balance will be forfeited — regardless of whether it meets the $10 USD minimum payout threshold.
For details on what causes an enrollment status to become inactive, see Medium Partner Program enrollment status.
How to avoid forfeiture
To remain eligible for payouts and avoid forfeiture, you must meet all of the following conditions at all times:
- Your Partner Program enrollment status is active.
- Your payout settings are complete — including a connected Stripe account and verified taxpayer information.
- Your Partner Program balance meets the $10 USD minimum threshold.
How to recover your balance before the forfeiture deadline
The steps to recover your balance depend on your current enrollment status. See the Medium Partner Program enrollment status article for detailed instructions based on your situation.
