Deceased or incapacitated user policy

In the event that a Medium user passes away or becomes incapacitated, we can work with an authorized representative to disable that user’s account, and cancel any recurring subscription charges.

Please send an email to yourfriends@medium.com or submit a request through our form. We will reply to request the following information in order to prevent fraudulent claims:

  • The Medium account involved (link to URL or Medium username)
  • Relevant information about the owner of the account
  • A copy of your ID
  • Your relation to the account holder
  • A copy of the death certificate (for deceased users)
  • A copy of the power of attorney (for incapacitated users)
