What happens after I nominate a story for Boosting?

Our internal Medium Curation team reviews the story (usually within one business day, although it can sometimes take two), and determines if it fits our Distribution Standards for Boost. If it’s a good fit, it gets selected for Boosting!

You’ll then receive an email letting you know the decision, and if the story is Boosted, the author will receive an email letting them know the story has been Boosted.

What are the different responses I’ll receive about my nominations?

  • BOOSTED: The nomination was selected for Boost. This counts as one of your 20 nominations, and you get paid for the story!
  • DECLINED: The nomination was not selected for Boost. This counts as one of your 20 nominations, and you don't get paid for this story.

Can I get additional feedback about why a nomination was declined?

This program does not include appealing, workshopping, or receiving additional information about declined stories.

Understandably, many nominators would like to receive detailed feedback about a declined nomination, appeal a nomination decision they disagree with, or ask for additional reviews of the story – all in the interest of gathering more information about how stories could be improved to be selected for Boost.

This program’s nomination and review process is focused on decision-making only. It does not include appealing, workshopping, or receiving additional information about declined stories. When you have a nomination declined, we suggest referring back to the Medium Distribution Guidelines and considering where the story didn’t meet the guidance, and then moving on to your next nomination.
