This article covers the minimum payout threshold, rollover balance, and payout schedule for the Medium Partner Program.
Minimum payout threshold
Your total earnings must reach a minimum of $10 USD before a payout is sent to your Stripe account. If your earnings do not reach $10 in a given month, the balance rolls over to the following month until the threshold is met.
To receive payouts, you must have a valid Stripe account connected to your Medium account and verified taxpayer information on file.
Some countries may have additional minimum payout thresholds enforced by Stripe. See Stripe's minimum payout amounts for details.
Examples
| Month(s) | Earnings | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| January | $12 | Payout sent in early February |
| January–March | $5 + $3 + $3 = $11 | Payout sent in early April |
| January–June | $5 + $0 (Feb–May) + $9 = $14 | Payout sent in early July |
Rollover balance
Any earnings below the $10 threshold that carry over to the following month are shown as your rollover balance in your Partner Program dashboard. This balance only appears when you have unpaid earnings.
The rollover balance is updated once per month, typically within the first 5–7 business days. You may receive your rollover statement by email before your dashboard reflects the updated amount — any discrepancy during this period is expected and will resolve once the dashboard is updated.
Payout schedule
Payouts are typically initiated by the 10th of each month, covering earnings from the previous month. Once initiated, payouts may take an additional 5–7 business days to appear in your bank account.
You can review all previous payouts in the Payout history tab of your Partner Program dashboard.
