You can connect your Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Apple account with your Medium account. Doing so will allow you to sign in to your Medium account with that social account.
Privacy
- Medium will never post anything on your social media account without your explicit permission.
- Medium does not import your contacts from your social media network to Medium.
Connect Facebook
- On your homepage, click on your profile picture and click Settings.
- Click the Security and apps tab, click Connect Facebook.
- Authorize your Facebook account.
You cannot connect a Facebook Page with your Medium account.
- In the app, tap your profile picture on the bottom bar.
- Tap Settings in the top-right corner.
- Under Social, tap Connect next to Facebook.
- Authorize your Facebook account.
You cannot connect a Facebook Page with your Medium account.
Connect Twitter
- On your homepage, click on your profile picture and click Settings.
- Click the Security and apps tab, click Connect Twitter.
- Authorize your Twitter account.
The link to the Twitter account you connected with Medium will automatically appear on the About page of your profile page. If you do not want to display your Twitter on your Medium profile, you can turn off the Twitter icon by setting Show link to your Twitter account on your profile page to Off.
- In the app, tap your profile picture on the bottom bar.
- Tap Settings in the top-right corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Under Social, tap Connect next to Twitter.
- Authorize your Twitter account.
The link to the Twitter account you connected with Medium will automatically appear on the About page of your profile page. If you do not want to display your Twitter on your Medium profile, you can turn off the Twitter icon by setting Show link to your Twitter account on your profile page to Off.
Connect Google
- On your homepage, click on your profile picture and click Settings.
- Make sure the address under Your email is the @gmail.com address of the Google account you'd like to use to sign in. Also, make sure that no other Google account is connected to your Medium account (you can check this in the Connections section).
- Sign out of your Medium account.
- Click Sign in on the Medium homepage, choose Sign in with Google and attempt to sign in with the desired Google account.
- In the app, tap your profile picture on the bottom bar.
- Tap Settings in the top-right corner.
- Tap Account and payment.
- Make sure the address under Your email is the @gmail.com address of the Google account you'd like to use to sign in. Also, make sure that no other Google account is connected to your Medium account (you can check this in the Connections section).
- Sign out of your Medium account.
- Choose Sign in with Google and attempt to sign in with the desired Google account.
Connect Apple
To sign in to an existing Medium account using Sign in with Apple, the email address associated with your Apple ID must match the email address associated with the Medium account you're trying to sign in to. You will not be able to sign in to an existing Medium account if you opt to hide your email address during the Sign in with Apple flow.
To choose to share your email address with Medium:
- On your iOS or iPadOS device, go to the Settings app and tap your name.
- Select Password & Security.
- Select Apps Using Your Apple ID.
- Select Medium.
- Select Stop Using Apple ID.
- Go back to the Medium app on your device.
- Select Sign in with Apple.
- Select Share My Email.
If your Apple ID email address matches the email address on your Medium account, it will connect automatically. You will then be able to use Sign in with Apple going forward.
- On your macOS device, click the Apple menu and click System preferences.
- Click Apple ID, then choose Password & Security.
- Select Edit.
- Select Medium.
- Select Stop Using Apple ID.
- Go back to the Medium on your device.
- Select Sign in with Apple.
- Select Share My Email.
If your Apple ID email address matches the email address on your Medium account, it will connect automatically. You will then be able to use Sign in with Apple going forward.
- On your device, go to appleid.apple.com and sign in to your Apple account.
- Go to the Security section. Under Sign in with Apple, select Manage apps & websites.
- Select Manage.
- Select Medium.
- Select Stop Using Apple ID.
- Go back to the Medium on your device.
- Select Sign in with Apple.
- Select Share My Email.
If your Apple ID email address matches the email address on your Medium account, it will connect automatically. You will then be able to use Sign in with Apple going forward.
Connect Mastodon
- NOTE: You cannot sign into Medium using your Mastodon login credentials.
- On your homepage, click on your profile picture and click Settings.
- Click the Security and apps tab, then click Connect Mastodon.
- Write your instance domain (e.g., https://me.dm) and click Proceed to sign in.
- You'll be redirected to your instance. You can follow the steps there to complete the connection.
- NOTE: You cannot sign into Medium using your Mastodon login credentials.
- In the app, tap your profile picture on the bottom bar.
- Tap Settings in the top-right corner.
- Tap Account, and then, on the tab bar, go to Security and apps.
- Tap on Connect Mastodon.
- Write your instance domain (e.g., https://me.dm) and tap Proceed to sign in.
- You'll be redirected to your instance. You can follow the steps there to complete the connection.
Disconnect account
You can disconnect your social media account by clicking Disconnect.
