Sharing stories on Twitter

Medium stories shared on Twitter are freely available to all, even if they would otherwise be shown as part of the metered paywall. This means that readers will never be blocked from reading a story when they find that story on Twitter.

This applies to all medium.com links, as well as stories on custom domains.

This change does not impact writer payments for stories that are part of the Medium Partner Program. Payments are done based on member engagement with those stories. The meter is shown only to readers who aren’t yet members - so writer payments are not affected.

Members who read stories from Twitter while signed in to Medium will see no changes in their experience.

This change should make it even easier for writers to share their stories with the world, as we continue to refine our system for curation and distribution on Medium.
