Best Practices for Calls to Action in Partner Posts

Participants in the Medium Partner Program will have the ability to lock posts for access by Medium Members.

To provide a premium experience to Members, posts in the Partner Program are required to follow our Member Content Guidelines. One of those guidelines relates to including calls to action in your posts:

"Do not ask for claps or include other calls to action, including gifs of clapping, requests for donations, email list sign-ups, or other links or embeds for the purpose of capturing user information or soliciting money."

We respect the desire for creators to promote their work off-platform to interested readers. We ask that you do so using plain, minimal text links that look professional and do not include calls to action, particularly those soliciting personal information or monetary donations.

In practical terms, this means you're welcome to include:

  • A short bio (~2-3 lines)
  • Links to your other Medium stories
  • Link to your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram
  • Link to your website, book or other project
